O stire din Germania

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06 ... man-music/
Police in Germany are investigating reports of dozens of sexual assaults against women at a music festival using tactics that appear to be a smaller scale repeat of the New Year attacks in Cologne.

So far 26 women have come forward to say they were assaulted at the Schlossgrabenfest festival in the city of Darmstadt, south of Frankfurt, on Saturday, and 14 have made formal criminal complaints.

Three Pakistani men, two of whom are asylum-seekers, are currently under investigation. The third man is a long-term resident of Germany.

The tactics reported by the women are reminiscent of the New Year sex attacks in Cologne, in which hundreds of women were assaulted outside the city’s main railway station.

German MPs recognise Armenian 'genocide' amid Turkish fury
The vote heightened German-Turkish tensions at a time when Turkey's help is needed to stem the flow of migrants.

Turkey has recalled its ambassador and its leader threatened further action.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the recall was a first step and that the government would consider further action it might take in response to the vote.
Hundreds of thousands of Christian Armenians died in 1915 at the hands of the Ottoman Turks, whose empire was disintegrating

Many of the victims were civilians deported to barren desert regions where they died of starvation and thirst. Thousands also died in massacres

Armenia says up to 1.5 million people were killed. Turkey says the number of deaths was much smaller

Most non-Turkish scholars of the events regard them as genocide - as do more than 20 states including France, Germany and Russia, and some international bodies such as the European Parliament

Turkey rejects the term "genocide", maintaining that many of the dead were killed in clashes during World War One, and that many ethnic Turks also suffered in the conflict

Ankara to Berlin: You burned the Jews in ovens, and accuse Turkey of genocide

Image
Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu blasted the "irresponsible" move by German parliamentarians and accused Germany of seeking to distract from its own dark history of the Third Reich.
"The way to cover up dark pages in their own history is not to blacken other countries' history through irresponsible and groundless parliament resolutions," he wrote on Twitter.

Europe has over 1,2 million slaves
Poland has the highest number of slaves in the EU; Romania is the biggest source of slaves in the EU
The first five EU member states with the highest per capita population of slaves are Poland (estimated 181,100 slaves), Romania (80,200 slaves), Greece (44,200 slaves), and the Czech Republic (44,600 slaves). Outside the EU, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (13,300) and Turkey (480,000) have the highest number of slaves per capita.
In 2015, EU citizens accounted for 65% of identified trafficked victims within Europe. According to the NGO, 80% of sexual trafficking victims are Romanian, followed by Bulgarians, Lithuanians and Slovaks. The top non-EU victims of trafficking are Nigerians, Chinese, Brazilians, and increasingly Syrians.

BBC: Eleven German MPs under police protection in 'genocide' row
Eleven German MPs of Turkish origin have been put under police protection.
They received death threats after supporting a move to describe the 1915 massacre of Armenians by Ottoman Turks as genocide.

Germany's foreign ministry has warned MPs of Turkish origin against travelling to Turkey, saying their security there could not be guaranteed.

The German parliament's move outraged the Turkish government, which does not recognise the killings as genocide.

The 11 MPs of Turkish origin who voted for the resolution have faced a backlash of negative opinion from the Turkish government and from within Germany's sizable Turkish community.

Ankara's mayor showed the 11 MPs in a tweet, saying they had "stabbed us in the back". According to German media, it was retweeted by many Turkish nationalists, some of whom made death threats.

And a group of Turkish lawyers has reportedly filed a complaint accusing the MPs of "insulting Turkishness and the Turkish state".

The leader of Germany's Green Party, Cem Ozdemir - who initiated the debate on the Armenian massacres in the Bundestag - told a newspaper he had been sent emails saying things like: "We will find you anywhere."

BBC: Dutch woman arrested in Qatar after making rape claim
A Dutch woman is being detained in Qatar on suspicion of adultery after she told police she had been raped.

The 22-year-old, who was on holiday, was drugged in a Doha hotel and woke up in an unfamiliar flat, where she realised she had been raped, her lawyer says.

She was arrested in March on suspicion of having sex outside of marriage. She is due to appear in court on Monday

Half of cops in England, Wales needed to constantly spy on UK terror suspects. Why false positives are a huge problem for mass surveillance programmes.
As Ars reported last year, most of the terrorists involved in attacks in Europe were on the authorities' radar.

The same is true of the most recent atrocity in Florida, as the Washington Post points out: "Orlando shooter Omar Mateen was on a terror watch list. So was Larossi Abballa, who stabbed a police officer and his wife on Monday in a suburb of Paris. Despite being known to authorities, both men succeeded in planning and committing their horrific crimes."

The fact that increased mass surveillance might lead to decreased security from terrorist attacks is particularly relevant at this time. The Investigatory Powers Bill currently proceeding through UK parliament includes measures to retain for a year the Internet histories of everyone in the UK, whether or not they have ever committed a crime or are under suspicion.

The chancellor added that her government would move to repeal the controversial and little-used Article 103 of the penal code, which concerns insults against foreign heads of state, by 2018.
