Noted RPGmeister Chris Avellone, whose credits include Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale, Knights of the Old Republic 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, and my goodness the list goes on, has teamed with a new studio named Owlcat Games to create Pathfinder: Kingmaker, the first-ever isometric CRPG based on the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.

Originally published as a pencil-and-paper game in 2009 by Paizo Publishing, the Pathfinder RPG is based on a modified version of the Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 ruleset. Because of that heritage, there's a certain old-school flavor to it, but while it's designed to be compatible with the older D&D system, it's been thoroughly tweaked and burnished to provide a more contemporary RPG experience.

"I’m a Paizo fan, and a Pathfinder fan. I like the setting, the art style, the adventure paths, the card game, and the iconic characters. I’ve enjoyed playing Pathfinder with my friends (we used to be part of an Ocean’s 11 style game), and I’ve enjoyed the comics, the world, and the overall setting," Avellone said. "I’m excited by the prospect of bringing Pathfinder to the computer RPG world, and hope gamers will enjoy playing in the Pathfinder universe."

The game will be set in the Stolen Lands, "the dangerous and turbulent territories well known within Pathfinder fandom," and will feature "familiar characters and well-known locations" taken from its lore. During their adventures, players will have the opportunity to claim territory and establish their own kingdoms, but that aspect of the game "will go beyond simple stronghold-building to become a true reflection of the hero’s character and choices made throughout the game," Owlcat said. "Each kingdom will be a living thing shaped by alignment, choices, allies and the hero’s ability to lead his or her people."

Damn. Am vazut mai multe gameplay vids cat timp s-a instalat, si cred ca ma voi distra mai mult cu asta decat as fi facut-o cu Disco Elysium (daca ar fi fost sa aleg). But phuckin 35gb install size :( A durat mai putin sa se descarce decat sa se "despacheteze". Si vad ca e pasibil la un patch sau doua. Plus ca, la cat as fi stat la character creation, as fi trecut in total de pragul de 4-5 ore inainte sa intru in el propriu-zis. Astazi nu s-au aliniat astrele. Mañana, muchacho.

Am trecut prin prima zona din tutorial. Daca va era dor de universul (multiversul?) D&D (cu regulile aferente), bucurati-va. This is basically NWN 3. Take that as you will :D
La inceput, poti face tweaks la mai multe optiuni din dificultate, ca sa-ti faci viata mai grea sau mai usoara. Numarul de save slots, enemy damage ratio & toughness, companion death etc. La character creation puteti sta intre 5 minute si... oricat am stat eu ca sa explorez toate optiunile. Ai de ales intre 8 rase. Sunt 14 clase, iar pe langa arhetipurile de baza, fiecare are cate 3 "subarhetipuri". Si se diferentiaza indeajuns de mult. La ranger, de exemplu, pe langa build-ul clasic (favored enemy/terrain, animal companion, quarry etc), ai si freebooter (un fel de swashbuckler cu abilitati ce avantajeaza aliatii), flamewarden (afinitate pentru foc, la nivelul 20 capata abilitatea de a reinvia), si storm warden (afinitate pentru electricitate, si imunitate la element la un anumit nivel). Cu atatea optiuni, cred ca fiecare gaseste ce ii place. Vrei un grenadier? Este. Barbar cu niscaiva abilitati de druid? Ai. Druid baiet rau? Da. Inchizitor cu pasiune pentru colectionat pokemoni? Oarecum. Eu am mers pe rogue clasic. That sneak attack bonus is too good to pass up. Plus ca imi place sa joc jack of all trades.
Combat-ul e RTwP, deci nicio surpriza aici. Desi luptele nu au spectacolul din Original Sin de exemplu, rundele de durata prestabilita au venit ca un pahar de apa de izvor dupa haosul din PoE. It didn't really suck, it was just...tiring. Poate unora li se va parea plictisitor.
Revin mai tarziu, cand am mai trecut putin prin poveste.

Recepția jocului ne arată de ce nu mai face nimeni RPGuri bune ca alea vechi. Nu mai ai pentru cine să le faci.

Jocul e review bombed pe Steam pentru că e prea greu. Asta în condițiile în care îți oferă libertate deplină de configurare a dificultății. Dar nah, cine mai are răbdare să citească ceva?
Ba și pe Codex o ard cu probleme de grădi, că cică de ce are Asasinu 16 AC (asta în condițiile în care până și un Wizard decent de lvl 1 are atât). Bine că Pathfinder nu folosește THACO că atunci chiar nu mai înțelegea nimeni nimic.

Nah, ce să-i faci, avea dreptate Sawyer când apăra sistemul din POE zicând că gamerii de azi nu pot digera AD&D.


Anyway, lăsând deoparte bugurile care se rezolvă repede, jocul pare cea mai bună implementare RTwP de la NWN2 încoace. Ceea ce nu e de mirare având în vedere că Pathfinder e bazat pe 3.5 ruleset dar oricum. Păcat că nu am mai mult timp de el. :)

Parca citisem ca e primul lor joc pe care il fac; thumbs up ca au scos ceva atat de complex la debut. La anul dupa n patchuri, va fi o experienta foarte placuta. Eu am renuntat la el dupa vreo 24h parca, prea multe buguri, prea multe chestii incurcate; mai e si treaba cu regatul care a facut si mai mare haosul.

Lol comments.
a respec option is mandatory in every rpg...
there is nothing worse than putting 60 hours into a game
and then you realize that your build is bad or it could be more efficient
but you dont have any other option than starting all over again...
Asta și auto level up-ul. :lol:

Si video-ul cere respec, poti sa fii cat de elitist vrei (desi nu vad motivul, daca nu vrei sa folosesti respec nu folosesti), prezenta afecteaza pozitiv jocurile, pentru ca stii ca ai un safety net si poti sa experimentezi liber cu build-ul si sa te distrezi mai bine.

Sunt si alte motive pentru respec, poate nu in Pathfinder:

Respec in orice moment (in limita a respec consumables) e principalul motiv pentru care NG+ and up in Dark Souls 2 sunt in mod special atractive comparativ cu restul seriei — pot sa incerc build-uri noi pe acelasi character ca fiecare NG cycle sa fie mai unic.

Motivul este ca pentru a vedea tot content (si sa iei toate achievements ca si consecinta) trebuie de obicei sa ajungi cel putin la NG++, in toate cele 3 jocuri.

DS1 e cel mai neatractiv, personajul curent e doomed, pe langa ca nu are Master Key, e specializat complet pe melee cu greatswords, si nu o sa mai invart sabia aia pentru inca 50 de ore nici in ruptul capului.

Sigur, sunt jocuri unde respec-ul e mișto (DS e alt gen), eu zic motivul pentru care cerea respec. Ce mai contează deciziile de level up dacă oricum ai respec, fură mult din farmec. Personal cred că e mișto să ai acces la chestia asta undeva în ultimul sfert de joc, tocmai ca să poți experimenta.

Altfel mi se pare meh, poți să-i zici elitism dacă vrei, dar încurajează design-ul leneș și jucatul superficial. Nu zic că mă încurcă pe mine cu ceva, nici auto level-up nu mă afectează dacă e opțional.

La video îți dai seama că nu m-am uitat. Apropo, dacă dați spoilere prea mari pe aici fără taguri, vă mănânc. :lol:

Ah, NG+ e altă chestie care mi-e complet antipatică și pe care nu o voi face vreodată.
