In 1992, Ultima Underworld changed the rules of what a fantasy RPG could be. It introduced the concept of 3D immersion, a player-authored experience, and a richly dynamic world to explore. Its influence led to a whole generation of games such as Thief, Deus Ex, BioShock, Skyrim, and Dragon Age.

Underworld has been hidden away in the deepest vaults of its publisher for two decades. Only now have the original creators unchained the franchise, freeing it to innovate yet again.

Arata mai varza ca Arx Fatalis, si ala e joc lansat in 2002. Iar bloom-ul excesiv era la moda pe vremea cand Deus Ex 2 si-a facut si el aparitia vreo doi ani mai tarziu. In schimb devii mentionaza Skyrim in clip, lel.

Actually, pare ok so far. Nu chiar cea mai bună prezentare dar na...

Cred ca si originalul Ultima Underworld a avut buget de peste 600.000$. But then again, la cat am zbierat dupa un UU remake pe raposatul forum, nu-mi permit sa ratez ocazia.

Btw nu e spiritual sequel, e sequel in toata regula, literally Ultima Underworld 3.

Reactia mea colerica a avut de a face cu faptul ca tipii folosesc Unity, nici nu a trebuit sa ma interesez sa vad ca ala e motorul utilizat, iti dai seama imediat. Jocurile facute cu el au un look cam second-rate si parca "imprastiat" stilistic. Singurul joc care il utilizeaza si are un look unitar e Interstellar Marines, dar ala e un FPS SF care are loc in cutii de metal plm, nu e greu sa faci ceva care sa se lege cu o paleta atat de simpla (au un sistem de animatie foarte bun in schimb, destul de fluent, iar efectele sonore sunt si ele de calitate).

Inteleg ca tipii astia practic trebuie sa loveasca doua cremene sa faca un joc, si ca Unity e un engine al saracului destul de fiabil, dar tocmai din cauza asta trebuie sa ai o directie artistica foarte stricta sa scoti ceva misto din el. In fine, mi-ar fi placut mai mult daca era mai putin toon-like, pare a fi un Torchlight First Person. Dar mna, cand ai un buget redus mergi inspre ceva mai stilizat.

TL;DR: semi-alergie la Unity, atat.

Cam așa e, Unity e ok, chiar foarte ok la 2D dacă e să ne luam după Obsidian (rămâne de văzut), însă jocurile 3D sunt urâte cu spume. Și nu urâte în sensul ăla de ”mama ce curvă sunt vreau grafică mișto”, ci urâte pe bune. Din păcate aici vor trebui să se descurce, nu aveau cum să facă UU 2D, dar au fost și cazuri gen Wasteland 2 unde producătorii au ales de bunăvoie să facă un joc care arată ca perifericele lui RaptoR, când varianta mai ușoară și mai ieftină ar fi arătat mult mai bine.

Au precizat undeva ca grafica e slaba, dar ca se concentreaza pentru inceput pe gameplay, pe mecanici, etc., si ca inca nu au decis ce si cum o sa arate. Ca idee, pare promitator, dar putea avea si o prezentare mai buna.

Underworld Ascendant world-premiere hands-on: So far, it’s Underwhelm Ascendant
For a design staff that has so many luminaries among its ranks—none higher than Warren Spector, arguably—the fruits of its labor thus far play like a mountain of compromise. The demo didn't disabuse my notion that OtherSide might just be hustling to get this years-old project out the door with its current series of "yes, you can set stuff on fire and do other elemental tricks" duct-taped together. And a lower-scaled sales pitch might just be fine! "Our skeletons are dumb, and our spells are kind of busted, and our questing is limited, but you'll have enough fun with the janky stuff, we swear." I could endure that.

But Fielder aimed high with his pre-E3 sales pitch, and it just didn't match the game I played. Unless OtherSide has some seriously surprising material still hiding in its vaults—a bunch of incredible, branching dungeon designs, or a wealth of new elemental powers, or, gosh, yet another launch delay—anybody looking forward to Underworld Ascendant should be very careful with their optimism.

Am gasit training dummy-ul din prototipul meu in joc. Nu l-au animat sau ceva, e doar o bucata de lemn care nu reactioneaza in vreun fel cand o lovesti. Cel mai neexcitant tutorial de folosit arme din cate am vazut vreodata :lol:

L-am luat acum cu 5 euro... problema e ca e inca stricat, si ma indoiesc ca vor face ceva in legatura cu asta. Nu inteleg cum au reusit sa obtina o performanta atat de proasta in niste environment-uri atat de claustrofobice. Movement-ul e floaty, mouse-ul se simte smoothed chiar daca dai disable la smoothing, interfata e cam uratica si neutilizabila pe ultrawide. N-am gasit ceva ce ar putea fi considerat altfel decat rough. Si asta dupa doar jumate de ora de joc :-(

Dupa ce am mai jucat putin cred ca cele mai mari probleme ale jocului vin de la "no focus", de departe. Abia se simte ca un RPG, cu atat mai putin un "urmas spiritual al Ultima Underworld/Arx Fatalis". Mai degraba un fel de arcade Thief 3.

Cu toate astea, e ceva in el care ma face sa vreau sa joc mai mult. Si nu cred ca-i faza in care am ajuns la civilizatie si in fata mea un lizardman si-a continuat nestingherit drumul in linie dreapta pana si-a dat drumul intr-o groapa cu lava :lol: Pe un altul l-am impins eu, doar cu un bump.

Stau cu ochii in patru dupa puzzle-uri si altele, cred ca sunt cea mai interesanta parte din joc. De exemplu, era ceva usa de lemn locked, am luat un scaun de pe jos, l-am tinut pe o torta pana a luat foc, apoi l-am pus langa usa, care a ars din temelii. Nice.
