The Darkside Detective

The Good:

Beautiful soundtrack
Atmospheric pixel art
Great humor filled with puns and gags
Enjoyable bite-sized cases that are easy to pick up and play

The Bad:

Mini-cases don’t allow for any story depth
Fairly static and limits freedom of movement
Voice acting would have been a nice addition

Our Verdict:

If you love British comedies like Blackadder and surreal mysteries like Twin Peaks, The Darkside Detective is a retro-styled supernatural adventure game you don’t want to miss.

The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark

"You're sure to find the second season of micro-adventures with McQueen and Dooley is handled just as expertly and hilariously as the first."

Image

The Good:

The return of McQueen and Dooley tops a fun cast of characters both old and new
Weirdly wonderful setting of Twin Lakes
Plenty of jokes to keep you entertained
Return of the charming chunky pixel art style

The Bad:

Not much challenge outside of a few obtuse puzzles

Our Verdict:

With the same charming aesthetic and just as many laughs and quirky paranormal phenomena as the first season, The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark is definitely worth playing for the comedically inclined.
