STAY

Post by ola small dickie »

"Come for the thrilling remote-access mystery, stick around for the challenging puzzles and thought-provoking story that plays out in real time."

The Good:
Unique real-time gimmick that makes you feel genuinely anxious when not playing
Tough puzzles that are as satisfying to decode as they are to solve
Great use of pixel graphics and atmospheric soundtrack.

The Bad:
Text interactions with Quinn can feel like aimless time fillers, with a sometimes-spotty translation
There’s just not much to do outside of puzzle segments.

Our Verdict:
STAY is a game that requires dedication, both to its digital protagonist and its puzzle solving, and features the kind of narrative that’s best digested via discussion with others who’ve played it. Eccentricities aside, it provides the kind of fodder that transcends the superficial and is recommended for anybody willing to face a slice of real-world drama.
