VirtuaVerse

"Picking up momentum after a slow start, this indie sci-fi story rounds into a beautiful, challenging pixel art adventure that offers much more than meets the eye."

The Good:

Intriguing futuristic setting that’s only improved upon as the story unfolds
A new triumph of pixel art beauty to marvel at every few minutes
High level of challenge ensures sense of hard-earned satisfaction
Soundtrack becomes both memorable and pleasantly catchy

The Bad:

World-building and character development needed just a little more time in the oven
One puzzle is so poorly clued that even the protagonist can’t help but comment on it

Our Verdict:

There were moments early on when I began to feel a sense of missed opportunity from VirtuaVerse, but as with any good slow burn sci-fi, the stakes ramp up with the action in a much more satisfying second half to complete a beautiful, challenging point-and-click adventure.
