Mihajlovic rant goes viral

A Press conference rant from Torino Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has gone viral with over 1.2m Facebook views.

The outspoken tactician was asked after a 2-1 win over Fiorentina on Sunday evening whether it was “difficult” for 22-year-old Marco Benassi to handle wearing the captain’s armband.

“It is difficult to get up every morning at 4am, work from 6am for the rest of the day and still not be able to pay the bills at the end of the month,” replied Mihajlovic.

“That is difficult. Wearing the armband should be a pleasure and a source of pride. Benassi is a fortunate man, as we all are in this line of work.”

La Gazzetta dello Sport put the video on their Facebook page and got over 1.2m views, the vast majority of the reaction agreeing with the Serb’s comments.

Nici eu nu as cataloga meciul asta drept barometrul asteptarilor pe care trebuie sa le avem pentru viitor, dar adevarul e ca nationala Romaniei nu a mai jucat de multi ani atat de bine. ‘Ronaldo preferred nightclubs to games!’

Former Inter boss Mircea Lucescu agrees Ronaldo is a “phenomenon” but admits “he spent more time at nightclubs and wanted to play without training”.

Lucescu coached Ronaldo at Inter during the 1998-99 season, when he scored 14 goals in just 19 Serie A appearances, but while the Zenit St Petersburg Coach hailed the striker’s talent, he felt the Brazilian could have been even better had he been more disciplined off the pitch.

“I liked Il Fenomeno very much, but he didn’t like to train,” he told Dolce Sport.

“He spent more time at nightclubs and wanted to play without training, but his talent was fantastic.

Inter ultras: 'Icardi is finished!'

Inter ultras in the Curva Nord demand Mauro Icardi be stripped of the captain’s armband after a chapter in his book. “You’re finished.”

The striker wrote about an incident that occurred after a 3-1 defeat to Sassuolo in February 2015 ( http://www.football-italia.net/92947/ic ... nter-ultra ) , noting he became “a hero” to his teammates for answering back to an ultra’ leader who had torn a shirt from a child’s hands to throw it back at the Argentine.

However, today the Curva Nord – the biggest Inter ultras group at San Siro – hit back with a statement.

“Icardi, as far as we are concerned, you’re finished,” it read. “Why such squalid fiction? We are horrified, that book is ridiculous and with regards to that incident there are only lies.

“We merely ask for effort and honesty, while he depicts us as threatening figures who gravitate around the club asking for who knows what, so evidently something is wired wrong in his head.

“An individual like this does not deserve the captain’s armband.”

The Curva Nord statement then dismissed Icardi’s version of events.

“We don’t want to go back over that day when his own teammates hauled him back by the neck to demand a less arrogant attitude towards the Inter population.

“It is pathetic to read such things talking about us. In his book he writes: ‘I am ready to face them one by one. How many are there? 50, 100, 200? OK, record my message and let him listen: I’ll bring 100 criminals from Argentina who’ll kill them where they stand, then we’ll see.’

“He talks about helping little kids, then invents an incident that never happened to make himself seem superior to us, as if it weren’t obvious to all that we are the only Curva that helps kids design the choreography in the stands.

"There are no more excuses. We considered him young, a bit of an idiot (like many), but deep down a good lad. Instead this is an individual who cannot be allowed to wear the Inter armband. It's not for us, but Inter simply don't deserve this.

"You are finished with us. You're done. TAKE THE ARMBAND OFF, YOU CLOWN. Yes, that is what we demand."

Inter play Cagliari at San Siro this afternoon and it’s safe to say there will be a response from the ultras with banners and jeers for Icardi.
