Non-stop barrage of well-designed, varied puzzles
Clever recreation of an Escape Room experience, expanded across a whole house
Moody sound effects and background music hone that razor’s edge of impending horror.
The Bad:
Attempt at building an interesting backstory is noticeably abandoned at the end
A devious cave maze still included in a game released in 2017.
Our Verdict:
For fans of Escape Rooms, the puzzle-centric The Initiate does an excellent job of scratching a hard-to-satisfy itch for many hours, and does so in a fair way that hardly ever feels cheap."
