Lacuna

Post by ola small dickie »

"Though plenty compelling the first time through, you'll want to replay this slickly designed choice-driven sci-fi murder mystery at least once to fill in all the gaps."

The Good:

Thoughtful test-based puzzle design makes you work for answers through reading and careful consideration of clues
Gorgeous pixel art
Catchy soundtrack with a number of great piano melodies
Lots of replay value, stemming from both narrative choices and investigative competence

The Bad:

Auto-filling unearned multiple choice answers in tests feels premature

Our Verdict:

Lacuna is a wonderfully tense hard-boiled story set in a gorgeous jazzpunk future. Its mysteries will make you work for the answers, and will even let you fail, but either way the payoff is a sense of accomplishment that few other narrative puzzlers provide.
