Minute of Islands

"The hours spent tooling around Studio Fizbin's gorgeous archipelago in this clever, emotionally powerful puzzle-platforming adventure will make you glad you chose to play it."

The Good:

Breathtaking hand-drawn art is brought to life through a flowing animation style, lending unearthly beauty to even the most desolate landscape
Moving narrative that seeks to challenge and subvert the popular “Chosen One” story structure
Provides only as much expository detail as is necessary and mostly lets the lushly visualized environments speak for themselves
Strategically uses gameplay to place the player in the protagonist’s frame of mind
Superbly voiced narration communicates a strong sense of character for the protagonist and her family

The Bad:

Some repetitive gameplay elements that work in context but won’t be for everyone

Our Verdict:

Minute of Islands is a beautiful, unflinching game about the power to save what you hold dear and the responsibility that comes with it. Its breathtaking visual style, moving story and intensely affecting presentation add up to a one-of-a-kind puzzle-platforming experience.
