There Was the Moon

Post by ola small dickie »

"This impressive first-person indie adventure is full of abstract narrative intrigue and hauntingly surreal imagery, even if it doesn't quite stick the landing."

The Good:

Surreal graphics and sound design are incredibly disquieting and atmospheric
Mysterious storyline is abstract and open to interpretation
Logic puzzles provide a mild but enjoyable challenge

The Bad:

Endings are rather underwhelming in comparison to the rest of the game
A lack of agency in solving inventory puzzles makes you feel like a spectator to many of the bizarre tasks that take place

Our Verdict:

There Was the Moon succeeds at transporting players to a hauntingly surreal yet beautiful landscape, where menacingly unfamiliar sights and unsettling sound design combine to present an alien experience that won’t soon be forgotten.
