CK2 versiunea vanilla e un joc ok-ish ca functionalitate, insa destul de monotom si de mediocru in optiuni. Ce face, face bine; insa nu prea face mare lucru. E ca un The Sims nou, X+1, care nu are toata gama de DLC-uri/ExPack-uri ale The Sims X - competent in sine, insa mult mai sarac in exprimare.
Expack-urile alea de 1$ sunt destul de bune (ce ofera vs cat costa), adauga suficienta activitate pe anumite segmente de gameplay (The Old Gods, Legacy of Rome sau Sword of Islam aduc modificari exact la ceea ce te astepti - un play through cu nordici/bizantini/musulmani; The Republic introduce modificari pentru republici etc.). Iar alea care nu sunt 1$ fac cam acelasi lucru, doar ca sunt mai recente.
Ce vreau sa zic fara sa ma intind este ca jocul vanilla este rezonabil ca sa iti dai seama daca iti place sa joci un astfel de tip de joc (grand strategy orientat pe familie/dinastie, nu pe o tara/o civilizatie). Si daca da, iti place, atunci te poti orienta dupa cate un ExPack care aduce imbunatatiri pe ce zona te intereseaza - Vikings/Northern Pagans, Islamic Caliphates, Republics, Byzantium, Indian princedoms, Nomads etc. In principiu, cand se adauga mecanici in joc pentru un ExPack, pentru ceva specific, apar modificari si pentru versiunea vanilla, free of charge. Insa nu modifica prea mult ce poti face fara acel ExPack.
