Two experiences I lived feel very vaporwave to me and they both relate to living temporarily in a large, unknown city, when I worked for a multinational corporation 2 years ago.

On Fridays after work, I used to catch the late bus back to my home town. It was a 3 hour ride and for the last leg of the journey it was dark outside. Having both seats all to myself, listening to music in my headphones, the constant noise of the bus causing the music to become warped and hard to decipher, watching the night lights on the highway smear across the window, feeling so tired but being unable to sleep on the bus, making a stop at a neon-lit gas station and browsing their selection of soft drinks while feeling barely awake - this is how good late night lo-fi vaporwave makes me feel.

The second experience relates to the corporate office itself. I would sometimes miscalculate my route and ended up getting there early, before anyone else. It was early morning and the sun was just rising, shining through the large windows upon the endless rows of identical desks, chairs and computer screens. It felt very eerie and surreal, as if I was alone in a long-abandoned office complex in the future. It was a nice and weird way to start the day, before everyone started coming in and broke the illusion. Vaporwave became real for a few minutes.

Huh. Cred ca o sa-mi fac si eu cont pe vk.com. E un fel de Facebook rusesc si vad ca are o optiune interesanta de creat feed-uri tematice compuse din gif-uri + melodii. Foarte misto ideea. Apropo de synthwave, o recomandare de film: Manborg

Un soldat american moare in lupta si revine la viata intr-un viitor postapocaliptic sub forma unui cyborg. Apoi, impreuna cu prietenii sai, o tipa funky, un karatist la bustul gol si un punker australian, pornesc un razboi impotriva demonilor nazisti care fac experimente pe oameni. E fix amestecul ideal de idiot si awesome care-mi place si face abuz de CGI ieftin, costume penale, animatie facuta pe genunchi si one-linere tampite. Cu toate astea, e un film sci-fi chiar reusit si nu e in niciun caz o mizerie gen Birdemic. Merita vizionat 100% daca sunteti fani synthwave. Dureaza doar o ora, oricum, deci chiar daca nu-ti place, n-ai pierdut prea multa vreme cu el. Mie mi-a placut. Poate fi urmarit in intregime la linkul urmator, iar faptul ca se vede de-ampulea chiar si la 1080p nu face decat sa ii sporeasca farmecul.

Si, daca nu ati facut-o pana acum, e imperios necesara si o tura prin Kung Fury, aka Synthwave: The Movie. E despre un politist expert in arte martiale care calatoreste inapoi in timp ca sa-i dea sutu-n cur lui Hitler si armatei sale de ninjalai nazisti. Jumatate de ora de batai, lasere, dinozauri, computere, explozii si multa laba optzecista, cu un soundtrack compus exclusiv din melodii synthwave.

Am devenit genul de shau care se entuziasmeaza la melodii basite din zona house/techno/minimal, dar nu Tiesto si Armin van Buren, ci chestii mai obscure, facute-n dormitor. Spre deosebire de perioada in care ascultam metale la fel de basite, acum descopar cu mirare ca au si label-urile rostul lor. N-am prea fost niciodata interesat pe ce label apare cutare album metal, cu exceptia Deathwish Inc., care scoteau chestii metal si punk misto si emotionale. Nu mi s-a parut ca label-urile ar avea vreo tematica anume - sau poate n-am observat eu.

Dar parca altfel sta treaba cu muzica electronica. Sunt multe label-uri care urmaresc un sound, un stil, un vibe, un feeling unic, care le delimiteaza in mod clar de celelalte surate, astfel incat, daca ti-a placut un anumit album de pe un label, merita sa urmaresti cu atentie ce mai apare pe label-ul respectiv, ca e foarte posibil sa iasa chestii la fel de misto si astfel sa devii megafan. Deja am o lista maricica de label-uri pe care le urmaresc cu interes si poate ca ar trebui sa le cataloghez undeva, sa fac un fel de repository cu label-uri misto. Poate pe un blog sau ceva.

Anyway, in ultimele saptamani imi place foarte mult 1080p. Un label cu muzica electronica chill din zona mai sus amintita a house-ului de dormitor si cu artwork-uri foarte misto. Las aici cateva albume pe care le-am cam rulat zilele astea, in no particular order:
